\We’ve included a Free Printable Gnome Hat Template, too, just to make it all as easy peasy as can be. I have to say, these leaf gnomes definitely go on my list of all time favorites. We had so much fun collecting the leaves, this was a winning craft all around.

By the time we returned back home from our leaf-collecting walk, we had pockets full of all different kinds and colors of leaves. They were spilling out, actually, like a real life version of a scarecrow. It was clearly all done for the best reason and what turned out to be such a great fall craft.

Nature Leaf Fall Gnome Paper Bag Craft

To make our nature leaf fall gnome craft, you will first need to print our gnome hat template.

You’ll also need a variety of fall leaves, brown paper lunch bags, cardstock in tan and your choice of colors, markers in assorted colors, small googly eyes, a 1” circle paper punch, scissors, and a glue stick.

Fall Leaf Gnome Craft Supplies Needed

Leaf Gnome Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by gathering a bunch of fall leaves and a brown paper lunch bag.

Gather bag and fall leaves.

It’s best if you gather a variety of kinds, sizes, and colors of leaves.

Cut stems from leaves.

Cut the stems from the leaves.

Glue leaves under flap of bag.

Now, begin layering the leaves starting under the flap.

Continue gluing leaves until beard is full.

Make your beard as long as bushy with leaves as you want.

Cut out hat.

Once the leaf beard is complete, print the hat template and cut out. Trace the template on the color cardstock of your choice and cut out.

Glue hat to flap of bag.

Glue the hat to the flap of the paper bag. Leave about a 1” strip of the bag showing below the hat.

Add googly eyes.

Add eyes to the paper bag below the hat.

Punch a circle from tan cardstock.

Use the 1” circle punch to punch a circle of tan cardstock.

Glue circle nose.

Glue the circle between the eyes.

Decorate hat with markers.

Finally, use markers to decorate the gnome hat and complete this super cute fall nature craft.

Materials

  • Gnome Hat Template
  • Fall leaves
  • Paper bags
  • Cardstock - tan, your choice of colors
  • Markers - assorted colors
  • Googly eyes, small
  • 1” circle paper punch
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Instructions
