Paper Bag Flag Patriotic Craft
This Paper Bag Flag Patriotic Craft is a great Memorial Day craft. It’s quick and patriotic and perfect for last minute. If you’re not quite as last minute as we are, though, we also have Independence Day coming up, too!
Here’s my admission. This Paper Bag Flag Patriotic Craft started as a pure paint craft. We were going to paint the lines going down the bag. That didn’t work out, let’s just say. It was messy. Sure, I could have brought out tape and lined up the edges perfectly, but kids don’t want to do all that. So we quickly improvised by using strips of paper. Which only goes to show that those of us who should know what we’re doing, sometimes really have no idea what we’re doing.
For our Paper Bag Flag Patriotic Craft you will need regular brown paper lunch bags. You will also need blue acrylic paint, white buttons or stars, red and white paper, scissors, and glue.

Supplies needed:
- brown paper lunch bags
- acrylic paint – blue
- paintbrush
- construction paper – red and white
- white buttons
- scissors
- school glue
First, paint the flap of the lunch bag blue. Let dry.
Cut long strips of red and white paper about 1” thick. With school glue or a glue stick, begin laying down lengthwise on the bag, starting under the flap. Layer slightly.
You should be able to get 9 strips, starting with red and ending with red, as well.
Trim away excess strips from the bottom of the bag.
Glue white buttons. If you have stars those would be great, too, of course.
