Ahoy, matey! Are you ready for our super fun Paper Bag Pirate Craft? I’m not sure if you arrrrrrr! But if you’re not, we may have to make you walk the plank. Because how dare ye! Ok, I tried to fit as many pirate-isms there all at once so I would be done for the rest of this post.

Anyway, are you ready for the real booty? That would be this here Free Printable Pirate Template to go with this super adorable and easy craft. Most of this craft is paint, but the few pieces you need to cut out are simple to do.

Paper Bag Pirate Puppet Craft

To make our paper bag pirates you will need our pirate template.

Craft supplies needed.

You will also need brown paper lunch bags, acrylic paint in your colors of choice, a black marker, black cardstock, a white paint pen, medium googly eyes, scissors, and a glue stick.

Pirate Paper Bag Craft Supplies Needed

  • Pirate Template
  • Brown paper lunch bag
  • Acrylic paint – black, red, brown, or your choice of colors
  • Black marker
  • White paint pen
  • Googly eyes, medium
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Paper Bag Pirate Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by painting the bottom half of the front of a paper bag in black.

Paint bottom half of bag black.

Let the paint dry.

Paint other half of bag, from under flap down, red or brown or your choice of colors.

Paint the top half of the paper bag, from under the flap of the bag down to the black, red or brown or whatever color you choose. Red, brown, and black just seem like classic pirate colors, though. Let all the paint dry completely.

Print template, Trace on black cardstock and cut out.
Trace and cut out hat.

While the paint is drying, print the template and cut out the pieces. Trace both pieces on black cardstock and cut out.

Glue eye patch in place.

Then, glue the patch to the flap part of the bag.

Glue on googly eye and draw a simple nose and mouth.

For the other eye, glue on a googly eye. Use the black marker to draw a simple nose and mouth.

Use white paint pen to draw skull and crossbones.

Now, use the white paint pen to draw a skull and crossbones like design on the hat.

Glue hat in place.

Finally, glue the hat in place at the top of the bag.
