Paper Bag Superhero Craft

Paper bag crafts are always fun. I have to say, this Paper Bag Superhero Craft definitely doesn’t skimp on the fun factor. You can use it as a puppet for pretend play, and it’s a really great craft to get creative with on a number of levels.

Paper Bag Superhero Craft

Did you know that there’s a Superhero Day? April 28 is National Superhero Day, where you’re supposed to dress up and celebrate superheroes. This craft would be great for that celebration, especially since we’ve also included a Free Printable Superhero Template to make it all so much easier. And easier means less hassle, which means way more fun.

Paper Bag Superhero Puppet Craft 

To make our paper bag superheroes you will first need to print our superhero template.

Craft supplies needed.

You’ll also need brown paper lunch bags, acrylic paint in your choice of colors, cardstock in black and your choice of colors, medium sized googly eyes, a black marker, scissors, and a glue stick.

  • Googly eyes, medium
  • Black marker
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Paper Bag Superhero Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by painting the front of a brown paper lunch bag, from under the flap down, in your color of choice.

Paint front of bag, from under flap. Let dry.

Let the paint dry completely.

Cut out mask and punch holes for eyes.

While the paint is drying, print the template and cut out the pieces. Trace the mask on the color cardstock of your choice and cut out. We chose black. We then used a ¾” hole punch to punch holes in the mask for eyes, but you can leave as is to make it easier for little ones. The right size googly eyes will cover the hole completely. Glue the mask into place at the top of the bag.

Add googly eyes.

Draw nose and mouth with black marker.

Draw a simple nose and mouth with a black marker.

Glue symbol to front of bag.

Now, cut out the Superhero symbol from the template and glue in place on the front of the paper bag.

Trace cape and cut out.

Finally, trace the cape pattern on the color cardstock of your choice and cut out.

Glue cape to back of bag.

Glue the cape to the back of the paper bag.

Your superhero is now ready to save the day!
