It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Or, at least it will be soon. We’re getting prepared with all kinds of fun Christmas crafts, like this rather delightful Paper Christmas Tree Craft that’s perfect for kids to make! Because Christmas just isn’t Christmas without a Christmas tree.

This Christmas tree craft is so simple, once you get the basic shape down, and really neat to watch come together. All you need to do is fold a sheet of green construction paper into a square. To do this, take one corner and bring it to the edge of the paper to form a triangle. Then, cut the excess. Voila, a square! Then cut strips, loop to the center and glue, then finish with colorful poms.

To make our paper Christmas trees you’ll need green and brown construction paper, poms in assorted colors, glue, and scissors.

Craft supplies needed.

  • Construction paper – green, brown
  • Poms – assorted colors
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Christmas Tree Paper Craft Step by Step Directions

Start by making a perfect square from green paper. 

Make a square with the paper.

To do this, take one corner and bring it to the edge of the paper to form a triangle. Cut away the excess paper.

Cut strips in the triangle.

Then, with it still folded in a triangle, cut strips in the paper along the open end. Make sure you don’t go all the way through the fold line.

Unfold the square.

Now, unwrap the paper and face in a diamond shape.

Glue strips to the center.

Bring the strips from the paper to the center alternately and glue in place.

Continue gluing until all strips are glued.

Continue gluing all the strips in place in the center.

Cut a rectangle trunk from brown cardstock.
Glue trunk to bottom of tree.

Next, cut a rectangle from brown cardstock and attach it to the bottom of the tree

Christmas tree poms.
Glue poms in center of tree.

Lastly, decorate with poms at along the center of the tree to complete your delightful and simply lovely Christmas tree craft!

Notes
