Paper Plate Fall Moon Silhouette
There is something absolutely magical about a full moon, especially a full moon in the fall when the moon seems a little bit brighter and the sky just a bit darker. It’s a stunning sight to see, and I have to say our Paper Plate Fall Moon Silhouette Craft is quite stunning itself.
Like our Paper Plate Winter Love Birds Craft before it, this Paper Plate Fall Moon Silhouette Craft uses the raised ring around a sturdy paper plate to elevate a tree away from the sky scene, creating a beautiful 3D effect. Then, on a dark branch sits an owl. Or a cat. Or a bat. Basking in the glow of the moon.
Aside from a paper plate, for this Paper Plate Fall Moon Silhouette Craft you will need acrylic paint in black, blue, yellow, and orange. The remainder of the supplies include black cardstock, a stapler, a glue stick, and scissors.
Paper Plate Fall Moon Silhouette Craft
Supplies needed:
- Sturdy paper plate
- Acrylic paint – black, blue, yellow, orange
- Black cardstock
- Stapler
- Glue stick
- Scissors
Begin by painting the paper plate.
Paint a large yellow circle in the center of the plate. Add swirls of orange.
Then paint the outer edge with black. You can bring some of the black into the yellow like clouds passing over.
Add blue touches over the black. Let the paint dry.
Cut a tree shape with limbs from black cardstock large enough to fit across the paper plate.
Staple the tree more towards the side of the plate. Staple the limbs to the plate, as well, so the tree is elevated off the plate.
Cut a long thin branch shape and glue in place on the tree across the moon. Staple to the side of the plate.
Now cut your bat/ow/cat shape from the black cardstock. This is simply a larger oval topped with a smaller circle and 2 triangles for ears. Cut a wavy tail for the cat or a jagged rectangle for the owl tail.
Glue the figure sitting on the branch in front of the moon.
