Paper Plate Fall Truck Craft

There are certain sights that just look like fall. A pickup truck is one of them. A pickup truck with a bed overflowing in pumpkins or apples, like this Paper Plate Fall Truck Craft, just takes the scene into autumn overdrive.

We also love this craft because it reminds us of the Little Blue Truck series of books, which is still one of our favorites. Of course, we had to make a blue truck in honor of it, too. So easy and so fun to make, just be sure to grab our Free Printable Fall Truck Template to help with the sizes for the few extra pieces needed.

Fall Truck Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by cutting a paper plate in roughly half.

Cut paper plate in half.

Then, from one of the halves, cut out the rear corner. Start about 2” above the flat edge and cut to the center of the plate. See image above.

Paint plate.

Paint the paper plate in the color of your choice. Let the paint dry completely.

Cut windshield and circles for wheels.

While the paint is drying, print the template. If you have paper punches in the appropriate sizes, use those. Otherwise, cut out all the pieces. Trace the triangle windshield and two of the larger circles from black cardstock. You will also need a couple of the larger circles cut from orange cardstock. Cut the smaller circles from red cardstock.

Glue windshield in place at front of plate.

Once the paint on the paper plate is fully dry, glue the triangle shape in place at the front of the paper plate for the windshield.

Glue wheels in place.

Glue the black circles in place for wheels.

Add reflection lines with metallic marker.

Use a metallic marker to draw a few reflection lines on the windshield.

Make circles and two small pieces of brown cardstock for pumpkins.

Now, decide if your trucks are carrying apples or pumpkins. For the pumpkins, use a couple orange circles and cut small rectangular pieces from brown cardstock for the stems.

Glue pumpkins to bed of truck.

Glue the orange circles to the bed of the truck. Add stems.

Glue apples to bed of truck.

If your trucks are carrying apples, these are the smaller circles on the template. Glue as many of these as you’d like in the bed of the truck. Then, cut small leaves out of green cardstock and glue one leaf to each of the apples.
