Paper Plate Flower Garden Craft
Get kids excited for their first flowers to bloom in the garden with our fun and interchangeable Paper Plate Flower Garden Craft! A super simple way to make flowers that you can mix and match in your own, mess-free patch of ground.
We loved making these flowers as they’re really just layers of circles with a button in the middle. You can’t make a flower any easier. As simple as they are, they’re so pretty, too, especially grouped together in their paper plate garden.

Paper Plate Flower Garden Craft
Supplies needed:
- Small paper plate
- Green acrylic paint, 2 shades
- Cardstock – green and assorted colors
- Buttons
- Craft sticks
- 2” hole punch
- 1.5” hole punch
- Black sharpie
- Scissors
- Glue stick
Begin by cutting a paper plate in half.
You will need a flimsy plate, one that’s thin and easy to fold.
Now put one half aside for another garden. With one half of the plate, fold the two sides in at equal distances from the edge. Make 2 horizontal snips, on top of each other about half an inch apart, on each side.
Then unfold and fold in half at the center of the plate. Make 2 more snips.
Paint the plate green. Paint 3 craft sticks a different shade of green. Let dry.
Punch 3 2” circles out of the colors of cardstock. Also punch 3 smaller circles with the 1.5” hole punch.
Draw a flower shape around the edge of the large circles with the black sharpie.
Glue the small circle in the center of the larger circle.
Glue a button in the center of the small circle.
And adhere to the craft sticks.
Now cut some leaf shapes from the green cardstock.
Insert the craft sticks into the slits made in the paper plate.
Glue leaves on the craft sticks.
Make more flowers, more gardens, and move the flowers around! So pretty! Be sure to check out more of our spring crafts for kids at Our Kid Things!
