Paper Plate Handprint Dinosaur Craft

We have a Free Printable Dinosaur Template, too, for all the pieces you would need to make the rest of your dinosaur. You can make your dinosaurs in any colors you’d like, mix it up or make them like your favorite stegosaurus.

Paper Plate Dinosaur Handprint Craft

To make our dinosaur craft you will first need to print our dinosaur template. The rest of the supplies includes paper plates, acrylic paints in your choice of colors, cardstock in the same, a 1” circle paper punch, small googly eyes, a black marker, scissors, and a glue stick.

  • Dinosaur Template
  • Paper plates
  • Acrylic paint – your choice of colors
  • Cardstock – assorted colors
  • 1” circle paper punch
  • Googly eyes, small
  • Black marker
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Paper Plate Dinosaur Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by painting a paper plate.

Paint paper plate.

Paint the paper plate in any color you’d like your dinosaur. Let the plate dry completely.

Download the template and cut out the pieces.

While the paint is drying, print the dinosaur template and cut out the pieces. Trace and cut out the pieces on the cardstock.

Trace and cut out handprints.

Also trace and cut out two little handprints. Again, in whatever color you’d like.

Cut the paper plate in half.

When the paint is dry, cut the paper plate in half.

Glue tail and head in place.

With the curve of the plate on top, glue the tail piece to the back of the paper plate. Glue the head piece to the front of the plate, too.

Glue 4 rectangles in place for legs.

Then, glue the 4 rectangles in place for legs.

Glue handprints to top of paper plate.

Next, glue the handprints to the top of the paper plate, with the fingers showing over the edges of the plate.

Add googly eye and draw a simple smile.

Now, add a googly eye to the face. Use the black marker to draw a simple smile on the dinosaur.

Punch 1 inch circles and glue on paper plate.

Finally, punch a couple circles out of colored cardstock. Glue the circles to the paper plate.
