Paper Plate Lacing Pumpkin Craft

Our Paper Plate Pumpkin Lacing Craft is a perfect Halloween craft for kids in so many ways. It’s a fun pumpkin craft, a spider and web craft, as well as an easy paper plate craft, all in one. It’s a perfect craft for not only those reasons, though, but it’s also great for working on fine motor skills, too.

Paper Plate Pumpkin Lacing Craft

We’ve been a longtime fan of lacing crafts and yarn crafts in general. Any time you can add some fun texture with yarn, it’s a win. Plus, of course, yarn just makes the perfect material for a spider web. It’s a fun Halloween craft all around!

Lacing Pumpkin Paper Plate Halloween Craft

For our Halloween pumpkin craft you’ll need paper plates, orange acrylic paint, black yarn, a single hole punch, a black and brown marker, scissors, tape, and a glue stick.

You’ll also need cardstock in brown and your choice of spider colors, plus a 1” circle hole punch.

Paper Plate Pumpkin Craft Supplies Needed

  • Paper plate
  • Orange acrylic paint
  • Black yarn
  • Single hole punch
  • 1” circle hole punch
  • Markers – black, brown
  • Cardstock – brown, colors of choice
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Glue stick

Pumpkin Lacing Spider Web Craft Step by Step Directions

Start by painting a paper plate orange.

Paint paper plate orange.

Let the paint dry completely.

Cut inner circle from paper plate.

Once the paint is dry, cut out a circle from the inside of the paper plate.

Makes holes around circle.

Now, take a single hole punch and punch holes around the cut out circle.

Tape yarn to back of paper plate.

Cut a long strand of black yarn. Tape one end of the yarn to the back of the plate. We also like to wrap the other end in a small piece of tape so that it’s easier to thread through the holes.

Thread yarn through holes randomly.

Lace the yarn through the holes randomly.

Continue threading yarn until all holes are filled.

Continue until all the holes are filled.

Make simple spider with a 1 inch circle paper and 8 skinny cardstock legs.

Then, make an easy spider in the cardstock color of your choice by punching a circle with the 1” circle paper punch and 8 skinny legs. Glue all of it together.

Glue spider to web.

Bend the legs, add simple dots for eyes with a black marker or pen, and glue to the web.

Cut stem from brown cardstock and add line details with brown marker.

Lastly, cut a rectangle from brown cardstock for the stem. You can get fancy with a curve or whatever, but a simple rectangle works just as well. Add lines going down the stem with a brown marker.

Glue stem in place.

Glue the stem in place to complete this super cute Halloween pumpkin craft!
