Paper Plate Love Bugs
One paper plate, a bunch of heart punched ladybugs, with 2 different scenes. That’s what makes this Paper Plate Love Bugs craft so great!
This Paper Plate Love Bugs can be used for Valentine’s Day, or it makes a wonderful welcome to spring. The paper plate is cut in half and one side becomes the ladybugs on the ground, while the other side is full of ladybugs flying in the sky.
For our Paper Plate Love Bugs craft you will need paper plates, red cardstock, blue and green paint, a heart paper punch, a craft knife, black sharpie, white marker, scissors, and glue.
Paper Plate Love Bugs
Supplies needed:
- Paper plate
- Red cardstock
- Acrylic paint – blue and green
- Heart paper punch
- Black and white markers
- Craft knife
- Scissors
- Glue
You will want a sturdy paper plate for this craft.
Begin by cutting the paper plate in half.
Only an adult should do this next step. Carefully use a craft knife to make a slice towards the bottom of each side of the paper plate. This slice should be wide enough to squeeze the heart paper punch in.
Now, punch hearts in the paper plate on the cut edge.
Then squeeze the heart punch in the slice and punch a few in that direction as well so all the hearts are facing at random.
Paint one half of the plate green, the other side blue. We used a touch of yellow in the green paint and two different shades of blue mixed together just for a bit of dimension. Let dry.
Now, cut a half circle to fit the inside of the plate.
Glue the half circle to the back of the plate.
Use the black marker to draw dots on the red hearts. Also, draw a half-circle ladybug head and antennae coming from the top of the hearts.
Use the white marker to draw the tiniest dots for eyes and create cloud waves in the blue side as well as just a few grassy lines in the green side for the happiest group of ladybug love bugs basking in spring!
