It’s easy to make our Paper Plate Octopus Streamer Craft with only a few simple supplies, plus they take no time at all. This is a great summer craft for all ages. They’re really fun, too, watching the crepe paper tentacle streamers waving in the breeze.

Paper Plate Octopus Streamer Craft

We’re having a lot of fun making crepe paper streamers lately, and octopuses seemed like a logical next craft. Perfectly summer, and perfectly fun, this paper plate octopus easily becomes one of the most beautiful creatures in your own ocean scene. It also uses those little fingerprints to make the suckers on the tentacles, making it super sweet, too.

To make our easy paper plate octopus craft you will need paper plates, acrylic paints in white and your colors of choice, crepe paper streamers in your colors of choice, large googly eyes, scissors, and a glue stick

Craft supplies needed.

Octopus Streamer Paper Plate Craft Supplies Needed

  • Paper plates
  • Acrylic paint – white, your colors of choice
  • Crepe paper streamers – colors of choice
  • Googly eyes, large
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Fingerprint Octopus Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by painting a paper plate in the color of your choice. We chose pink and blue for ours, purple is a standard color for an octopus, too.

Paint a paper plate.

Let the paint dry completely.

Add 2 large googly eyes.

When the paint is dry, add two large googly eyes towards the bottom of the plate.

Glue 8 streamers along bottom edge of plate.

Now, cut 8 strips of crepe paper streamers in your color of choice for the octopus tentacles. You can make these any length you’d like. Flip the plate over and begin gluing the 8 tentacles along the bottom edge of the plate.

Continue gluing the crepe paper tentacles until all 8 are in place.

Dip finger in white paint.

Finally, dip your finger in white paint.

Make fingerprints along tentacles.

Begin making fingerprints along the tentacles.

All that’s left is to let the fingerprints dry completely and you have a super cute ocean octopus craft, with wavy, mesmerizing tentacles.

Notes

The white paint will bleed through the crepe paper, so make sure your table is protected.
