I have to say, I am SO excited to share this Paper Plate Winter Love Birds Craft with you all! I’m beyond words thrilled with how it turned out, it’s truly one of my favorites. It’s a craft that would be so easy for kids to put their own unique spin on, too!
Combining a snowy February winter scene with the love of Valentine’s Day, this Paper Plate Winter Love Birds Craft is a craft that has it all. And I love how the pair of red clothespin love birds stand out against the barren winter tree.
For our Paper Plate Winter Love Birds Craft you will need a sturdy paper plate along with dark brown cardstock, a stapler, scissors, as well as blue acrylic paint and white acrylic paint or paint pen. Then for the love birds, you’ll need wood clothespins, red acrylic paint, red paper, small googly eyes, and glue.
Paper Plate Winter Love Birds Craft
- Sturdy paper plate
- Dark brown cardstock
- Acrylic paint – blue, red, white (or use a white paint pen)
- Wood clothespins
- Small googly eyes
Begin by painting the paper plate with a thin layer of blue acrylic paint. Let dry.
Paint the wood clothespins with red paint. Let dry.
Once the paper plate is dry, take the white paint or paint pen and begin making dots of snow. You could also cover the bottom of the plate with more white for an accumulated effect.
While the white paint is drying, cut a tree shape with limbs out of the brown cardstock. Make your tree however you like, just make sure it’s taller than the paper plate with limbs that can fold over the back.
Position your tree where you’d like it on your paper plate and fold the tips of the paper to the back of the plate so that the tree is tight and elevated from the center of the plate. Staple in place.
Cut two small heart shapes out of red paper. Open the clothespin and glue the bottom of the heart as far back as you can on the open clothespin. Glue a small googly eyes to the top of the clothespin.
Position love birds on the tree.
I hope you love our Paper Plate Winter Love Birds Craft truly as much as we do!
