Sometimes you just need a fun and simple craft, and that’s what you get with our Paper Plate Zebra Craft. It’s fun, it’s easy, our zebras are leaping in the air, they don’t require any paint or mess, and the result is really quite awesome.

There’s something to be said about the simplicity of a white paper plate and a black marker. It’s a stark contrast. And I think that’s why we all love zebras so much, too. Mother nature is amazing, and she knows how to get it right.

Make a Zebra Craft with a Paper Plate

Paper Plate Zebra Craft supplies needed.

To make our Paper Plate Zebra Craft you will need a regular white paper plate, markers in black and pink, a white pen, black paper, googly eyes. scissors, and glue.

Paper Plate Zebra Craft Supplies Needed

  • Paper plate
  • Markers – black, pink
  • White pen
  • Black paper
  • Googly eyes, small
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Zebra Paper Plate Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin with white dinner size paper plate.

Cut paper plate in half.

Cut the plate in half.

Outline inner circle and edges.

Use a black marker to outline the inner circle of the plate, as well as the edges.

Draw lines in outlined area.

Now, draw lines in a random pattern in the outlines area.

Cut out along the outline.

Cut out.

Draw the legs and hooves.

Next, draw where you want the legs at the ends. Color the end of the legs in black for the hooves.

Cut out the legs.

Cut out the legs.

Draw head and ear shapes on cut out semicircle piece, add muzzle on head shape.

Then, use the semicircle piece that was cut from the inner plate to form a head and ear shapes. Color in a black muzzle on the head.

Add lines with black marker on head, nostril and mouth in muzzle with white pen, and pink in inner ears.

Continue using the black marker to draw a few lines across the face. Use the white pen to mark nostrils and a mouth. And color inside the ears with a pink marker.

Adhere googly eyes and glue ears to head.

Cut the pieces out. Glue the ears to the back of the head shape and add googly eyes.

Glue face on plate above legs.

Glue the head to the body piece, above the legs.

Cut rectangle of black paper.

Then, cut a rectangle strip from the black paper.

Form fringe.

Form fringe along one edge of the black paper.

Glue strip to zebra starting between ears.

Glue the black paper to the zebra, starting between the ears for the mane.

Trim fringe.

Finally, trim the excess fringe from the mane.
