I’m a winter girl. Well, a cooler weather kind of person anyway. Not freezing, slipping and sliding on ice. That’s not my favorite part of winter. Snow, however, is beautiful when it’s falling. The good news is that with our gorgeous Paper Straw Snowflake Cards will only warm you up. There’s no freezing temperatures involved.
Making these Paper Straw Snowflake Cards is a fun way to spend a cold afternoon. They’re great for families to give as a general winter season card, but you could also make them for Christmas, as well. Or, just make a bunch for yourself.
For our Paper Straw Snowflake Cards you will need paper straws. We used the striped ones. Also needed is cardstock in blue, white, and brown. The rest of the supplies include a white marker, buttons, school glue, and scissors.
Paper Straw Snowflake Cards
- Paper straws
- Cardstock – dark blue, light blue, brown, white
- White marker
- School glue/glue stick
Begin with a sheet of the colored cardstock.
Fold in half and cut. Then, fold the half in half again.
Cut a circle from a piece of a different colored cardstock. We used the rim of a jar for size. Cut wavy lines around the edges or leave as is.
Glue the circle to the center of the folded cardstock.
Now take a couple paper straws. You will need 2 or 3 for each snowflake, depending the design used. Cut the straws to fit your design.
Begin gluing in place.
Once all straws are in place, finish the snowflake by adhering a button in the center.
Take a white marker and decorate with more drawn snowflakes as well as simple dots around the paper straw snowflake.
Write a winter or holiday message inside the car, with more drawn snowflakes.
We hope making these cards for those you care about will warm your heart this holiday season! And for more cold-weather fun, be sure to check out all of our winter crafts at Our Kid Things!
