We’ve made a number of really fun Mother’s Day crafts that mom is sure to love. Like our Fingerprint Flower Bouquet, Super Mom Card, and our Pop Up Handprint Flower Card.
This Paper Strip Mother’s Day Award Ribbon would be another perfect Mother’s Day gift. But you can also give mom one of these award ribbons any regular day, too, just to let her know that what she does is fantastic!
For our Paper Strip Mother’s Day Award Ribbon you will need lightweight cardstock or construction paper, as the heavier stuff won’t glue together very well. We used lightweight cardstock. Needed, as well, is a strong glue stick, a black marker, 2” circle paper punch, and scissors.
Paper Strip Mother’s Day Award Ribbon
Supplies needed:
- Construction paper – mom’s favorite color, white
- Black marker
- 2” circle paper punch
- Glue stick
- Scissors
Begin by cutting strips of your chosen color of paper. Ours were about ¼-½” wide.
You will need 8 strips total.
Glue the center of the first strip to the center of another. So that you have a large + sign.
Then glue 2 diagonally. Glue the remaining 4 strips between the already glue strips. Your strips should now resemble a flower. Kind of.
Now bring the ends of the strips up and glue to the center.
Do this all around. Hold the ends to secure.
Then flatten the strips with your hand.
Use the 2” paper punch to punch a circle from the white paper.
Write #1 Mom with the black marker.
And glue to the center of the circle of strips.
Finally, cut 2 ribbon ends from the same color paper as the strips. You should have enough left over from the same sheet.
Glue to the back of the paper strip circle.
You can make these in all different colors for all kinds of occasions! But mom, especially, deserves an award.
