Nothing beats a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It was my favorite as a kid, and even now that I’m not a kid, it’s still my go-to when all else fails. It’s also a lunchbox staple. And while we don’t want to mess with the classic peanut butter and jelly pair, we can make it a bit more fun with our Peanut Butter and Jelly Snake Skewers.
Jif® Peanut Butter and Smucker’s® Fruit Spreads, it’s magical. Great Taste. Perfect Pair. Better Together.
Also easy to find in our local Meijer, during our recent shopping trip, along with a box of Jif Power Ups® Chewy Granola Bars for another snacking solution. We found these in a section by the bread clearly marked peanut butter and jelly. Because you also can’t have peanut butter and jelly without bread.
That bread doesn’t need to be a regular square slice of bread, however.
Head back to school in the new year with a lunchbox full of fun, delicious surprises when you swap a regular pb&j for our Peanut Butter and Jelly Snake Skewers!
Start with Jif® Creamy Peanut Butter, because where there’s Jif®, there’s love. Jif® is the #1 brand of peanut butter in the USA and has been trusted for generations. Again, it’s what I had when I was a kid. So it’s what I’m going to add to my kids’ lunchboxes, too.
Next, comes Smucker’s® Fruit Spreads. With a name like Smucker’s® it has to be good®. Their Strawberry Fruit Spread is made with only high quality, hand-picked strawberries. It’s definitely a fresher, more vibrant strawberry taste that has me convinced.
For our Peanut Butter and Jelly Snake Skewers, make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
But our peanut butter and jelly doesn’t stay square. We make circles with a small circle cutter. Or, you can do what I did and use a small plastic shot size glass. With that, I was able to get 4 circles out of each sandwich. No crust, only the good stuff. With very little sandwich wasted. The perfect kids pb&j!
Now, with a wooden skewer add 3 purple grapes and push to the end of the skewer for the snake’s tail. Add a circle of sandwich. Then another grape, green or purple. Sandwich. Grape. Sandwich. Grape. Sandwich. Grape.
Then, slice the stem off a medium-large strawberry. Slide the strawberry onto the tip of the skewer. Take a clean skewer and dip the tip into the peanut butter. Smear a dot of peanut butter onto the back of a candy eye and place onto the side of the strawberry. Do the same for the other eye.
Classic peanut butter and jelly with a fun twist! Add to the lunchbox for a surprise along with a Jif Power Ups® Chewy Granola Bars, or save the bars for after school snacks because I know we all seem to be starving at the end of the day.
