Who doesn’t love potatoes, right? Mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, french fries. And potato stamp crafts, too, like these darling Potato Stamp Cactus Cards!
We absolutely adore this cactus craft and hope you will, too! The main body is made by a potato. We used different sizes for different sizes of cactus, plus a really small one to make some branches. Then a few dots with the end of a paint brush in white paint for the thorns, and finish with a red pot.

Make a Cactus with a Potato Stamp
Supplies needed:
- Potatoes, various sizes
- 5×5” cards – assorted soft colors
- Red paper
- Acrylic paint – green, white
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Glue stick
Begin by gathering a few potatoes.
Cut the potatoes in half length-wise. Blot the cut side with a rag or paper towel to dry up a bit of the moisture.
Next, pour some green paint on a large surface. We used a paper plate. We also used a few different shades of green.
Now, place the cut side of the potato in the paint. Make sure it’s completely covered.
And press onto the center of the card. You can use a small potato to make branches off the main cactus stamp. Let the paint dry.
Once stamped, dip the end of a paintbrush in white paint. Make dots over the cactus. Then use the tip of the paintbrush to drag through the dot, forming thorns.
Finally, cut a rectangle of red paper to fit the width of the cactus. We angled the sides on ours to give it more of a pot shape.
Glue in place along the bottom of the cactus.
See how many different kinds of cactuses you can make with different potatoes!
