Raking Leaves Fall Craft

Raking leaves may not be my most favorite chore in the world, but this Raking Leaves Fall Craft may be one of my new favorite fall crafts. Super quick and easy with lots of vibrant fall colors, this craft takes a chore and makes it into a fun event. This is a great fall craft to work on scissor skills, as well.

If I have to choose, though, the best part about raking leaves is building a big pile to jump in. And you can make your pile of leaves in our raking leaves craft big enough for the biggest jump if you wish. That’s what’s so fun about this craft, too.

Paper Raking Leave Craft Supplies Needed

  • Cardstock – blue, red, orange, yellow, brown
  • Markers – red, orange, yellow
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Raking Fall Leaves Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by choosing a light blue cardstock background and red, orange, and yellow cardstock for leaves. You will also need brown cardstock for the rake.

Cut leaf shapes from cardstock.

Now, fold the red sheet of cardstock in half and start cutting oval shapes for the leaves, like you would when cutting a heart. Make some small, some a bit larger, some more elongated, and so on. Leaves come in all different shapes and sizes.

Draw leaf veins with marker.

Once all cut, use a marker in a similar color to draw veins on the leaves.

Cut strip and trapezoid from brown cardstock.

Next, make a rake by cutting a thin strip and a trapezoid shape from brown cardstock.

Cut slits in trapezoid.

Cut snips in the bottom of the trapezoid for the rake tines.

Glue trapezoid to strip.

Then glue the trapezoid to the brown strip.

Glue leaves on blue cardstock.

Glue the leaves on the blue cardstock wherever you’d like. We also like to leave a few of the leaves loose.

Glue rake in place.

Finally, glue the rake amongst the leaves.

Such a great way to make a really sweet fall scene. And a lot more fun than actually raking leaves.
