Rock Crabs Craft
This next craft really rocks! No, really! Made with rocks, our Rock Crabs Craft is a fun summer craft for kids and great for working on scissor skills.
I feel like I could get really punny with our Rock Crabs Craft. They’re rockin’! They really are, though. All kinds of lame puns that would make my kids’ eyes roll. It’s what moms do. But alas, I shall stop. Don’t get crabby!
We are really fond of these little guys, however. And they go so well with our other under the sea crafts.
For our Rock Crabs Craft, you will first and foremost need rocks. You’ll also need red paint, red paper, googly eyes, scissors, and glue. We also used a 1” hole punch to make snipping out the pincers a bit easier, but that’s completely optional. Scissors work just as well.

Supplies needed:
- rocks
- acrylic paint – red
- construction paper – red
- googly eyes
- paintbrush
- school glue
- scissors
- fine-tip black marker
- 1” hole punch (optional)
Start by painting the rocks red. Let dry.
Cut out all your crab pieces. You’ll need to cut a circle just smaller than the rocks you’re using. We then trimmed away two sides, leaving a rounded on two sides kind of rectangle.
You will also need to cut out 8 thin rectangles. These can be curved, wiggly, however you want to cut them out. Also cut 2 just slightly thicker rectangles. Glue into place on the red rounded rectangle.
Use a 1” hole punch or cut out another circle from the red paper. Cut that circle in half, and cut out a long V for the crab pincers. Glue on the slightly thicker rectangles.
Apply glue in the center of the rounded rectangle and place rock. Glue on googly eyes. Draw on a quick mouth with black marker.
And that’s our rockin’ Rock Crabs Craft! Such fun little guys! Be sure to find more summer crafts at Our Kid Things!
