Straw Stamped Stars and Stripes Flag
Here’s a fun way to make a USA flag by painting with a straw. The red stripes are a long piece of the straw dipped in red paint and then spread across, while the stars are a shorter piece of the straw cut off and then snipped on the end to make 5 sections.
This Straw Stamped Stars and Stripes Flag Craft is a fun and easy project that is sure to keep kids busy on long weekends! Our flags have a few more stripes than the standard 13 and a few less stars than 50, but this is our own spin on it. It would also be fun to simply take a dark sheet of paper, either blue or black, and just stamp a bunch of stars all over it for a beautiful nighttime stars in the sky scene.
Straw Stamped Stars and Stripes Flag Craft
Supplies needed:
- white paper
- blue, red, and white paint
- plastic straw
- paintbrush
- scissors
First, paint a blue rectangle in the corner of your paper.
Cut off a small piece of the straw, about 2 inches. Make snips on one end, about half an inch in, to make 5 sections. This is your star stamp. Take the rest of the straw and dip it into red paint, lengthwise. Paint and spread the stripes.
When the blue paint in the rectangle is dry, dip your star stamp in white paint and begin stamping in the rectangle of blue.
This flag craft is a great way for kids to remember all those who have fought for our country on Memorial Day or celebrate Independence Day!
