When you have kids and game day is fast approaching, it’s a good idea to have some menu items in mind that you know your kids will love. This will give you more time to prepare if you are having friends over for the big day too. Because we know how picky kids can be, we’ve chosen four menu items that we think will help you cover all of your bases.
Everyone seems to love nachos and things get even easier when you use a Kraft cheesy beef nachos recipe. Kraft does a great job in offering up a lot of different variations on nachos in case your kids hate beef. You can do a cheese version, chicken version or maybe even a flank steak version if you are having some adults over for the game. All of this versatility really makes your job easier and all you need to do now is swing by the supermarket, then throw all of those ingredients together.
Pigs in a Blanket
It seems like every year, someone is doing pigs in a blanket for one of their game day treats. It is a personal favourite and my kids love it. The Pillsbury version is, by far, my favourite. It is very quick and easy to make. Here is what you need:
– 2 cans of Pillsbury crescent dinner rolls
– Miniature Smoked Linked Sausages
That’s it. Now all you need to do is cut each dinner roll into three triangles, wrap the sausages and bake them for 12-15 minutes. Short and sweet.
If you want to spice this recipe up a little bit, have a spicy version of a mustard sauce available for the adults.
Another game day all-time favourite for the kids is mini-burgers. You can do a cheeseburger variation of this. You just need to grill some mini-burgers and have several different sauces and toppings to choose from.
I find that you can get really creative with mini-burgers, if you feel inspired. You can add onions and bell peppers to the beef patties for adults or just leave them plain with salt and pepper for the kids. A great tip is to toast the buns just before everyone eats so that they can enjoy a warm bun with their burger.
I like to get creative with the toppings and have bacon, grilled homemade pickles and red, grilled onions available.
Macaroni and Cheese
We know that your kids will be excited about this one! Macaroni and cheese has been a favourite for both kids and adults for a long time. You can choose to do a quick version of this from a packet or better still, opt for a homemade version. Trust me, they won’t be able to get enough!
Now that you have four crowd-pleasing menu ideas, your game day is sure to be a success, especially from your kids’ perspective. Have a wonderful game day!
