Everything old becomes new again. It’s amazing all the toys and figures from my childhood that are making a resurgence, with just enough change to throw me for a loop. Or maybe they never left, but my kids have grown to the age where they’re just now coming back to my attention.
Super Mario is a great example. My 7 year old, Buzz, has grown really interested in all things Mario recently. So I was super excited when, as part of being a K’NEX ambassador, we were sent a Super Mario: Prongo Building Set to review.
Official Info on Super Mario: Prongo Building Set
Inspired by Super Mario 3DLand, this awesome set allows you to build Raccoon Marioâ„¢ and battle Prongo! Featuring jumping action and a secret room, this set also includes pipes, a flag, jump panels and coins. For ages 8+.
Our Experience
All the sets from K’NEX go together easily and stay together, that’s part of what I love about it. It is for slightly older kids, however, and the younger set probably would have a harder time with the included directions. This set says it’s for ages 8+ and I would definitely adhere to that guideline, lest you want to put it all together yourself. Which, I have to admit, is what I did.
Buzz, however, was more than able to play with it once it was complete. He grasped the jumping action right off the bat, which makes Mario do a bit of a fly through the air in an effort to surprise and defeat Prongo. That was his favorite part of this set, behind the included figures, of course.
The finished product was more than worth it. This set has many different aspects to it that make it fun and new at every time to play. With trap doors that fall out from under Mario’s feet and a pipe to slide through, it brings the thrill of video game action of the game right to your table.
The Super Mario: Prongo Building Set is available now on knex.com, Toysrus.com, Amazon.com and at toy retailers nationwide. Suggested retail price is $34.99.
As a KNEX brand ambassador I received products to review. No other compensation was received. Opinions are my own.
That is awesome, my kids would love one of those. Will have to save up for Christmas and might just get it for them. Thanks for showing it.
