The thing I look forward to most about birthdays and holidays like Christmas where gifts are exchanged is the element of surprise. I love the idea of gift giving and watching faces light up as they realize what they’re receiving. It takes a lot of care to truly surprise someone.
One year at Christmas, when I was a teenager, I really wanted an acoustic guitar. I told my parents about this, that I planned to become the next big rock n’ roll star and this guitar would be a major first step. Now the first rule of a surprise is that you can’t know it’s coming. Thus, I believed my pleas fell on deaf ears. Until Christmas morning, when I woke up and found it sitting there. I was completely shocked and so excited! My parents also went so far as to purchase me a group of lessons, as well.
I love surprises.
Needless to say, I never became a rock star. But it was a great surprise and another wonderful way to show they really cared about me.
Now there is a site that gives that same element of surprise with every purchase. At Surprise You Store, $10 will buy you a gift out of thousands of items in their inventory. Simply choose how many surprises you would like, order, and they ship your gift within 5 business days. Once it arrives, surprise!
It’s not just any old items, however. From video games to kitchen ware, they even have a value guarantee that the item you receive will cost at least $10. So every surprise is a good one! I was even reading a story on the Surprise You Store blog that they sent out an iPad to one lucky customer a few months back. Now that is much more than $10!
I was thinking, the Surprise You Store would be a great way for a little kid to spend some birthday money, with the help of mom and dad. That way, the birthday surprises would keep on coming. Because you don’t need a guitar to feel like a rock star, making someone feel special does the same thing.

What a neat store! I, too, love surprises, but they rarely happen around here.
What a creative concept! I love surprises.
How funny, this is like when you buy one of those brown bag surprises and see what’s in it – does anyone remember those? I remember getting one at the dollar store once called “Mr. Surprise Bag”. Hahaha! Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE surprises. My mom used to buy me a grab bag at the Sanrio (Hello Kitty) store when I was little. It was so exciting to see what was inside.
This website sounds like a neat concept.
I love surprises! 🙂
