As a busy mom to 3 young kids, particularly one with type 1 diabetes, it’s important that I make healthy choices for myself and them all day, everyday. This means including more vegetables in our meals, keeping an abundance of fruits on hand for healthy snacks, and getting off the couch for more exercise.
Making healthy choices morning, afternoon, and evening is even easier with the Walgreens app and Balance Rewards program. With Walgreens Balance Rewards, you not only earn points on everyday purchases, but you also have the ability to ‘clip’ paperless coupons and store prescription information. There is a great feature on their app called Balance Rewards for healthy choices, as well. The healthy choices program lets you keep track of an assortment of health statistics, such as daily exercise, blood pressure, weight, and amount of sleep. We can even connect our blood glucose meter for another way to keep track of Jedi’s blood sugar levels.
All of this so we can go on with our daily lives, while earning points in the process. Morning, afternoon, and evening.
Now that school is back in session, I wake the kids shortly around 7 and record our sleep. Then, it’s important that we start off with a decent breakfast, getting all the vitamins we can to begin the day right. Before he can eat, however, Jedi has to take his blood glucose test and get his insulin injection, which we also record. Clothes on, hair brushed, teeth brushed, a few fights interrupted, and out the door for the bus stop. The kids take off and I let out a deep breath.
After getting some work done and cleaning the house, I set off for groceries and a run to Walgreens. I pick up lots of fresh veggies and fruits while at the store. Since we’re almost out of our multi-vitamin supplements, I pick up a couple different bottles for everyone at Walgreens along with bottled water to take along on our walks, making sure to use my Balance Rewards. While there, I get a bottle of pain reliever for Jedi, as well, to take to school since he also gets migraines. I then return home, continue working, work some more, and wait for the kids to come home.
Homework, healthy snacks, how was your day? Relax, then dinner and a walk. I open the Walgreens Balance Rewards for healthy choices program to keep track of our progress. I made a simple goal for us to take 2,000 steps every day on our walks. We also swing by the park and play a bit. Get home, ready for bed.
Morning, afternoon and evening, it’s amazing how easy it is to stay fit with motivation from Balance Rewards. Be sure to register and start tracking your progress to a healthier you, too!
