My kids have been back to school for one week. One week of learning and homework every day. One week of new teachers and old friends. One week of sharing pencils and swapping items at lunch. One week of community crayons and markers. One week of not washing their hands properly or applying enough hand sanitizer.
One week of germs brought home.
One week is all it took.
The first week in, and over the weekend all 3 of my kids appeared worn down. The school germs are potent this year. Abby, who doesn’t even go to school yet, somehow managed to acquire the worst of it, however. There was no questioning whether she was sick or not. She was cranky and warm and her nose was running out the door. I was excited for the boys to go back to school, but not for this.
Thus, one week in and this is how she spent the weekend; on the couch, in a blanket, watching iCarly. One week in and they’ve already fought the good fight against their first cold. One week in and I’m hoping this is the worst of it for awhile. Maybe they’ll get it out of their system now that the first week is over.
Going back to school is rough on many levels but I haven’t even thought about the germ/sickness factor. 🙁 I hope she’s up and feeling better soon!
oh no 🙁 I hope she feels better quickly
This is what I dread most about school! The kids are always sick.
Hmmm. Is it wrong that I know want to welcome my baby home with — GO WASH YOUR HAND NOW!!!! ?
I mean, how was your day is tired, right?
Hope she’s feeling better now!
Awwww!
awww poor baby 🙁
They’ll get immune to those classmate germs.
@Kate, Better yet, wrap their hands in saran wrap and only unwrap them when they get home. Though that might be a bit hard to hold a pencil.
@Notorious Spinks, I hope so! Though if last year is any indication, I’m afraid they’re going to be sick from now until they get out of school again.
I feel your pain. Both boys brought home a bug (they go to separate schools!) and I ended up being the sickest over the weekend.
Ugh! I am dreading this when my girls go to school. They’ve always been at home with me so I know their immune systems aren’t primed and they’ll probably get any and all sickness. I hope she’s feeling better now!
Oh I know this! My kids were back three days before one came home with the first cold. In fact, that day I was musing to myself about how long it would take (I thought two weeks) and who would be the first (I also guessed wrong). But there it is.
Poor little thing.
Hope she is feeling better by now! And that Jedi and Buzz didn’t get it!
