Unplug Pop Connect: 15 Screen-Free Family Activities
This is a sponsored post for 15 Screen-Free Family Activities written by me on behalf of JOLLY TIME Pop Corn. All opinions are 100% mine.
Whether it’s watching videos or playing games, my kids are online and in front of their screens a lot. And so are most other kids this day and age. They’re raised on it, it’s just a part of their lives like TV was a part of mine. Except they have it all at their fingertips. While technology can be a wonderful thing, it’s so easy to get lost in it. This isn’t a problem just for kids, though, but adults alike. It can all get to be too much.
That’s why we’re taking the family pledge to Unplug Pop Connect with JOLLY TIME Pop Corn. No, not connect online. Connect with one another. De-screen and reawaken.
JOLLY TIME Pop Corn invites families to turn off your screens, pop a bowl of your favorite JOLLY TIME Pop Corn and break out the board games!
Here are an additional 15 screen-free family activities:
- Go to the park
- Take a nature walk
- At night, lay a blanket in the grass and look up at the stars
- Read a book together
- Tell funny ghost stories by flashlight
- Catch fireflies
- Start a family garden
- Have a bonfire with weenie roast
- Build a fort in the living room
- Make it a day of arts & crafts
- Dance party
- Take a drive
- Bake cookies from scratch together
- Put together puzzles
We should have started this sooner, but it will surely be a new tradition. I pledge that every Friday night, from here on out, will be screen-free. Put the phones away, leave the tablets on the charger, even turn off the TV. The only connection we need is with each other.
This is how we’ll spend #ourJOLLYTIME with these screen-free family activities. How will your family spend yours? Here’s your excuse to Unplug. Pop. Connect. and disconnect from all technology and enjoy some quality time!
Be sure to visit JOLLY TIME Pop Corn’s Unplug Pop Connect site and share your family pledge in order to receive a high value coupon or possibly win a prize package! You can also follow JOLLY TIME Pop Corn on Facebook.

These are all great ideas! We try really hard to limit screen time for the kids during the week and instead get them outdoors doing family activities. While we do let them have screen time on the weekend, even them we try to moderate it.
I think these are some good activities to do together as a family. The talk one is a very valid suggestion because I think we’re losing our ability to talk to each other.
These are some great ideas, we could all use some more screen time. We need to do some star gazing, love that idea!
Our favorite isn’t listed: A bike ride! We have beautiful trails here and the kids just love going out on them!
These are some great ideas for unpluging and going screen-free! We love the park and building a fort in the living room sounds like loads of fun.
Fabulous ideas! We try to implement these with our children. One of our biggest rules is leaving the electronics in the car when we go out so that we can enjoy each other vs ignoring.
@Jennifer @ Mom Spotted, A bike ride is a great idea! Unfortunately, though, only 1 of my 3 kids really knows how to ride a bike. We’re working on that this summer!
