If there’s one meal that all my kids can agree on, it’s Velveeta Shells and Cheese, please. And that is the one and only meal that they agree on.
My oldest would be happy with seafood for the rest of his life, while my 7 year old mostly refuses anything that isn’t bread or cheese yet he doesn’t really like grilled cheese. Go figure. Then there’s Abby, my almost 5 year old. She’s a pasta girl through and through.
There’s always mac n’ cheese, however. The best kind made with liquid gold, Velveeta.
We go through many different kinds of pasta, but classic Velveeta Shells & Cheese is the biggest hit. I grew up on the stuff myself, and I now know that moms tend to know what they’re doing. I always make sure to have a box, or a few, in the house at all times. When I go to the store, I make sure to stock up every time with at least one box. You can see a recent shopping trip here.
Cooking for 3 picky kids can be hair-pulling. There’s a few tricks I’ve learned, however. While they love Velveeta Shells & Cheese as a good lunch, I usually make it as a side with dinner. That way I know that if they find the main course dreadful, they’ll always have something good in their tummy with the mac n’ cheese and that makes me feel better.
It’s also so easy to make. So easy, in fact, that my kids love to help me fix it. It also doesn’t take a lot of heat when it’s summer and the days are tiring. Put on some creamy, cheesy Velveeta Shells & Cheese and everyone is happy and full. Which begs the question, are you a liquid gold digger?
