Video games are a fun and exciting way for your child to fight the boredom and pass any extra time they may have. Having said that, there are quite a few to choose from, and although your child just wants to play, it’s wise to look into all the options out there.
Here are three of the best consoles, aged for around 6 to 12 year old children.
Nintendo Wii-U
Nintendo’s have been a family favourite in the gaming industry; they date right back to the 1980’s. They are known for providing games that are suitable and safe for all different ages. When you buy one, they usually come with the system, along with a single game that is currently being promoted at the time.
Pros:
– If you have your hunting head on, you will most likely be able to find cheaper consoles out there.
– Almost every game is family friendly.
– Wii-U can also play old Nintendo games.
– Certain games allow you to play online, but Nintendo limits the communication solely for the game so that your children can’t be exposed to profanity.
Cons:
– It is the least powerful console out there.
– Some games need you to purchase extra accessories for them to work.
– They have the least amount of games compared to other systems.
Xbox One
The Xbox One comes from the Xbox 360 generation which can be bought with a variety of different bundles. A lot of games require a certain amount of space on the hard drive, so your child will have to pick out what games they plan on playing at the time.
Pros:
– There is a lot of different genre of games to choose from.
– The system is a lot more powerful than the Wii-U.
– Has been rated to have the best online gaming options of all the consoles.
Cons:
– There is a limited selection of child appropriate games.
– There is a lot of online gaming which may not be the best thing for a young child.
– You will need to pay for your online subscription if you want to play games online and access other features.
PlayStation 4
The PS4 and Xbox One share a lot of the same features. Both being more advanced than the Wii-U. Both can be bought in bundles, and both focus a lot on online gaming.
Pros:
– There are more system exclusive games than any other system.
– Controllers are easy to repair, like the Xbox One, with companies such as Alpha Omega Tech Repairs.
– Easiest console to use as a media player as well as a gaming console.
Cons:
– There is a limited selection of child appropriate games.
– There is a lot of online gaming which may not be the best thing for a young child.
– You will need to pay for your online subscription if you want to play games online and access other features.
In conclusion, the Wii-U is most age appropriate for the little-uns, while the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are a lot more advanced with a lot more features, but with the risk of your children seeing and hearing things they shouldn’t.
