I’ve barely had a good night’s sleep in 14 years. That’s the age of my oldest kid. It’s a part of motherhood, it’s what I signed up for. But I really like sleep and I never understood why my kids were so against it.
Then, just when I was beginning to finally catch enough zzz’s, my youngest came along and completely messed up any sleep schedule I had begun to build again. I’m hoping it doesn’t take 14 years to sleep through the night once more. The difference between now and then, however, is that there’s new products to help kids stay in bed when they’re supposed to. One such tool that we’re utilizing already is Big Red Rooster’s Kids Sleep Training Alarm Clock.
The Kids Sleep Training Alarm Clock from Big Red Rooster is a really cute puppy dog design, first and foremost. But then the puppy’s ball lights up red when it’s time to stay in bed and it glows green light when it’s time to get up. Such a great way for little ones to learn time!
There is a hidden parent compartment on back of the clock, so children cannot change the settings or turn the alarm off early. The instructions are user friendly and are even printed on the inside of the parent compartment.
It’s easy to set the time, brightness, and you can easily set two separate alarms. For instance, you can have a weekday alarm time and a weekend alarm time. There’s also a nap timer that can be set from one minute to 12 hours. A 12 hour nap? That’s my kind of nap. When it’s time to shut off the alarm, there’s a button the paw of the puppy that’s easy for the child to push.
While my youngest is still only 9 months old, this clock is going to be adorable in his room when it’s time. The recommended ages are 2-7 years, so we still have a little while to go. Until then, though, we’re practicing with my daughter.
She’s actually the perfect one to use it now, as she likes to get out of bed at least an hour in the morning before it’s time. I’m glad she’s so gung-ho to start the day, but not at 6 a.m. Mama needs her coffee time.
