Watercolor Coffee Filter Heart Suncatchers
These Watercolor Coffee Filter Heart Suncatchers are one of our most beautiful Valentine’s Day crafts yet! So easy, and such a great way to get creative for the day, too.
While we adore how these Watercolor Coffee Filter Heart Suncatchers turned out, they’re definitely not our only heart crafts. Be sure to also check out our Cupid’s Arrow Heart Craft, Cardboard Lacing Hearts, and our Paper Strip Hearts to name just a few.
To make our Watercolor Coffee Filter Heart Suncatchers you will need paper plates, coffee filters, acrylic paints, watercolor paints, metallic markers, scissors, and a glue stick.
Watercolor Coffee Filter Heart Suncatchers
Supplies needed:
- Paper plate
- Coffee filters
- Acrylic paint – red, purple, pink, etc.
- Watercolor paints
- Metallic markers
- Glue stick
- Scissors
You will need to paint both the coffee filters and the paper plates.
Since the coffee filters take just a bit longer, we start with them. Paint the coffee filters with watercolors in whatever pattern you’d like, blending lots of reds, purples, and blues. Set aside to dry.
Now, use acrylic paint to paint the paper plates in Valentine colors. We painted our red, purple, and pink. We didn’t have a bottle of pink, so we simply mixed red and white paint. Let these dry completely, as well.
Once the paper plates are dry, flip over to the other side and draw a heart shape. Don’t worry if you can’t get the shape right on the first try, the pen marks will be covered up.
Cut out the heart shape.
Apply a circle of glue around the cut out heart.
Position the coffee filter over the glue and press in place.
Take a metallic marker and draw dashed lines around the heart and the edge of the paper plate.
How beautiful would a bunch of these look in a window?
Paint and hearts and light! An absolutely stunning Valentine’s Day suncatcher!
