Cardboard Roll Stamped Butterflies
It’s always so fun to find pretty things to create with everyday objects around the house. Like toilet paper rolls. Everyone has toilet paper rolls. Did you know that you can make these beautiful Cardboard Roll Stamped Butterflies simply with those rolls?
We have so many ways to use cardboard rolls in crafts, too. There’s these Cardboard Roll Yarn Wrapped Tulips, a Cardboard Roll Fox Craft, Standing Handprint Heart Tree, Cardboard Roll Mermaids, and so many more great ideas!
Not only is this a fun cardboard roll stamping project, but then kids can use their fingerprint to dip in a different color paint and make the butterfly body. So it’s a pretty spring fingerprint craft, too!
For our Cardboard Roll Stamped Butterflies you will need clean toilet paper size cardboard rolls, acrylic paint in your choice of colors, cardstock, a black sharpie, and a white marker.
Cardboard Roll Stamped Butterflies
Supplies needed:
- Cardboard roll
- Blue cardstock
- Acrylic paint – pink, purple, yellow
- Black sharpie
- White marker
Begin by squirting a fair amount of paint on a paper plate, or whatever you may use to contain your paint.
Now, using a clean toilet paper size cardboard roll, fold one part of the cardboard roll in. You can then tape, rubber band, or tie the roll in the needed shape to make it easier to keep shape for really little hands. This is optional.
Dip the end of the shaped cardboard roll in the paint color of your choice. Make sure it’s all dipped in paint for an even stamp. This works best when you use 1 cardboard roll each color. We tried to dip both sides, one in one color and one in another, but the stamps didn’t work as well since we couldn’t press down on the end without making a mess on our hands.
Now stamp the color on the paper. Dip again and stamp on the other side of where you stamped first.
And you have butterflies!
Finish the butterflies by drawing simple antennae with the black sharpie.
And use your fingerprint to paint the butterfly bodies.
We then used a white marker to make cloud/movement lines on the paper to add interest.
We have many more fun butterfly crafts, too, and check out all of our spring crafts at Our Kid Things!
