Craft Stick Kite Craft
Today’s craft idea is trying to fly off the page! Or at least that’s what our Craft Stick Kite Craft looks like, and one of many reasons why this craft is so much fun!
Flying a kite can be a great way to spend time together as a family on a summer afternoon. But you have to wait until the wind flies just right, lest there be lots of whines and moans when the kite never gets off the ground. With our Craft Stick Kite Craft, you can get creative with your kite as it soars in the sky without ever having to worry about the weather.
This Craft Stick Kite Craft needs 4 craft sticks per kite, tissue paper, blue cardstock as well as white and black, white and black marker, black paint, colored markers, scissors, and glue.
Craft Stick Kite Craft
Supplies needed:
- Craft sticks
- Tissue paper – assorted bright colors
- Cardstock – blue, black, and white
- Sharpies – white, black, assorted colors
- Black paint
- Scissors
- Glue
Begin by cutting 2 long strips of black cardstock.
Form into a plus sign. Glue together in the center.
Glue the ends of the craft sticks on the strips of black cardstock in a diamond shape. Let dry.
Flip the diamond over. Fold the ends of the black cardstock strips over the points of the diamond and glue in place.
Paint the craft sticks black. Let dry.
Tear pieces of tissue paper. On the back of the kite, begin gluing the tissue paper. We did 4 separate colors in each of the sections, but you could also make it easier and try stripes, random colors, whatever design you’d like. Let the glue dry.
While the glue on the kite is drying, form your sky. Begin by cutting cloud shapes from white paper. 2 large cloud shapes and 2 small.
Glue the cloud shapes onto a sheet of blue cardstock.
Using a white marker, draw more cloud lines around the blue cardstock.
Glue the kite onto the cardstock, slightly off the page.
With a black sharpie draw a line going from the kite to the bottom of the page. Also draw ribbons. Color the inside of the ribbons with colored markers.
