Crumpled Newspaper Painted Earth
We are so excited with how this Crumpled Newspaper Painted Earth Craft for Earth Day came out! The newspaper acts as a paintbrush/paint stamp and leaves behind such a lovely texture, like our actual Earth.
Utilizing materials we have on hand, this Earth Day craft is a perfect last minute idea. Just grab some newspaper, crumple it up, along with blue and green paint, and get painting! It’s a great way to appreciate the beauty and variations of our planet.
We have more Earth Day crafts, too. Be sure to check out our Earth Day Handprint Craft, as well as our Old CD Earth Day Craft.
The materials needed for our Crumpled Newspaper Painted Earth Craft include newspaper, white cardstock, blue and green acrylic paint, a black marker, and scissors.
Crumpled Newspaper Painted Earth
Supplies needed:
- Newspaper
- White cardstock
- Acrylic paint – blue, green
- Black marker
- Scissors
Begin by drawing a large circle with a black marker on a sheet of white cardstock.
We used a large cereal bowl to form our circle.
Now, rip a piece of newspaper and crumple in your hand, so there’s bumps and ridges.
Pour the paint on a paper plate or tray. Dip the crumpled end of the newspaper in the blue paint and stamp the paint along the circle.
Continue painting/stamping until it covers the circle.
Now take another piece of paper, crumple, and dip into the green paint. Form continents. We love how the newspaper forms texture on the Earth!
Once the paint dries, cut the Earth out along the black circle.
What a beautiful craft to hang and feature for Earth Day!
