Envelope Butterfly Craft
Butterfly crafts are so fun, because it’s best to make them as vibrant and colorful as you can. We created these Envelope Butterfly Craft and not only are they bright and cheerful and a perfect spring kids craft, but they also double as a carrier for pencils, markers, and even candy.
As the name implies, our Envelope Butterflies are made from an invitation-sized envelope folded 3 ways. We then cut out and colored some wings, which is where your child’s creativity will truly shine. Glue those on, add some googly eyes and antennae, and you have a darling spring butterfly craft!
A darling spring envelope butterfly craft that can hold some of your child’s favorite things.
Envelope Butterfly Craft
Supplies needed:
- a2, invitation-size, envelope
- white paper or cardstock
- markers
- small googly eyes
- pipe cleaners
- hole punch
- fine-tipped black marker or pen
- glue
- scissors
First, fold your envelope in thirds width-wise. Glue in place, making sure not to glue the opening closed.
Cut some butterfly wings from either regular paper, construction paper, or cardstock by making two lumps like a heart shape without the pointed end. We used regular white printer paper and, after coloring them in, the edges of the paper began to curl up. We liked this look, because it made it look as if the butterfly was in motion. But if you’d prefer yours to lay flat, I’d suggest construction paper or cardstock. Color however you want and glue the wings in place on the back of the envelope.
Punch two hole towards the top of the back of the folded envelope. Insert a pipe cleaner in your choice of color, going from outside the envelope in. Curl the ends.
Glue on googly eyes and draw a happy mouth.
