Easter Hot Air Balloon Craft
Up in the air! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s a bunny and a chick in our Easter Hot Air Balloon Craft!
Everyone needs a buddy when they’re floating through sky in a hot air balloon. Thus, our Easter Hot Air Balloon Craft has a basket with not only a bunny, but his friend the chick, too. This is an absolutely darling craft with a paper pop out Easter egg to decorate, an element of friendship, and a fun sky scene. It’s so cute, in fact, that while it’s great as an Easter craft, it would make a really great card, too, with a simple Happy Easter message written on the basket.
The supplies needed for our Easter Hot Air Balloon Craft include cardstock in Easter colors like purple, pink, and blue, as well as brown. Also needed are markers, a glue stick, and scissors. Our bunny and chick buddies are part of a pack of Foamies® Easter Stickers from Consumer Crafts.
Easter Hot Air Balloon Craft
Supplies needed:
- Cardstock – blue, brown, pink, purple, yellow, etc.
- Marker pens – white, brown, and colors to decorate
- Bunny and chick foam stickers
- Glue stick
- Scissors
Begin by gathering cardstock in the colors of your egg balloon. You will need 3-4 colors as well as a blue base.
Cut the same size egg shape from all sheets of cardstock. We layered one on top of the other and cut them all at the same time. This may be hard to do with littler hands. In which case, don’t worry about them being exact.
Decorate the egg shapes. We went with the same designs on each egg to make a more cohesive design. But even different colors and styles of scrapbook paper would probably be nice here, too.
Fold all the eggs in half, except for the blue base.
Glue one side of one egg to the next egg. Continue until all eggs are glued and you have a pop out effect.
Then, glue the eggs to the base.
On a rectangular card of blue cardstock, draw some cloud shapes with a white marker. Draw 2 lines with the black marker, with the lines getting slightly closer together towards the bottom.
Glue the pop out egg to the top of the black lines.
Stick your bunny and chick near the bottom of the lines.
Cut a rectangle of brown cardstock. Make sure it’s long enough to fit around the bunny and chick. Make folds so that it goes in on the bottom, like a basket.
Apply glue to the folds of the brown cardstock basket. Stick around the bunny and chick.
This is an absolutely darling Easter craft, but we have a lot more fun Easter crafts for kids at Our Kid Things for you to check out, too!
