Cardboard Roll Watering Can Craft

Tis the season for flowers, and if there’s flowers then you need to water those flowers. Or, in my case, it’s more houseplants than flowers. I even run a website on houseplants. But I do flowers, too. And we have the most adorable Cardboard Roll Watering Can Craft in honor of growing whatever it is you want to grow this spring.

This watering can craft is a super cute spring craft decoration. We’ve included a Free Printable Watering Can Template for the handle and spout just to make it all easier, but this craft literally goes together in minutes. So cute, so easy, and so perfect for spring!

Spring Watering Can Craft

For our watering can craft you will first need our watering can template. You will also need toilet paper size cardboard rolls, acrylic paint in your choice of colors, cardstock in coordinating colors, a black sharpie, and scissors.

We also used paper flowers as decorations on the front of our watering cans. For this you will also need a glue stick. But you could also use stickers or draw your own decoration, too.

  • Watering Can Template
  • Acrylic paint – your choice of colors
  • Cardboard rolls
  • Cardstock – coordinating colors
  • Black sharpie
  • Flower decorations
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Watering Can Cardboard Roll Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by choosing your colors for your watering cans. Gather your paints and toilet paper size cardboard rolls.

Cut cardboard rolls in half.

Cut the cardboard rolls in half, as straight as possible.

Paint the rolls.

Now, paint the rolls in your choice of colors. Let the paint dry completely.

Print, trace, and cut out template pieces.

While the paint is drying, print the watering can template. Trace and cut out the pieces, then trace those pieces on coordinating colors of cardstock for your watering cans. Cut out the pieces.

Use black sharpie to add detail to spout.

Use the black sharpie to make dots at the end of the spout for the water to pour through.

Make a long slit at one side of roll.

Next, when the paint is dry on the cardboard rolls, make a slit about ⅔ down on one side of the roll.

Make two slits at opposite side.

On the opposite side of the roll, make smaller slits on top and bottom

Slide spout into long slit.

Slide the cardstock spout into the long slit.

Slide handle into other side.
Template pieces in slits.

Then slide the handle into the slits on the other side.

Glue paper flower to front of watering can.

Finally, glue a paper flower, or your decoration of choice, to the front of the watering can.

  • Glue stick

Instructions
