For this, we took 2 plastic mini cup lids, the kind you use for dips. Add some gems on the top of one then sandwich them in between with the other. Punch some holes and string ribbon or twine through. So easy to customize and make fit for a boy or girl, great for little kids, too. The hardest part are the hole punches, which the parents would have to help with.

Supplies needed:

  • 2 mini cup lids for each
  • gems
  • ribbon or twine
  • hole punch

First, punch your holes in the lids using your hole punch. It may be hard to get through both at the same time, so mark where to punch so the holes line up and do them singularly.

Put your gems on the top of the first lid, making sure to leave some room so the gems can move around and make noise.

Work your ribbon or twine through the holes. Then, once all the way around, simply tie together in a knot and try to tuck it in as much as possible.

My daughter made hers using a lilac ribbon to go with gems that were more pink and girly. Then, the one for boys had more blue and held together with rugged twine. We made ours for New Years, so they each contained star gems, too.
