Show your student that their efforts are appreciated and noticed. Like how a light bulb goes over your head when you’re working hard with an idea, this Light Bulb Encouragement Craft is a great way to say you get it, keep going! You’re a bright light shining with good ideas! With a Free Printable Light Bulb Template, too!
Just one of the cute aspects of this craft is the pipe cleaner filament in the bulb. It’s a fun zig zag of shiny color and really makes the bulb pop! But what really stands out are the encouraging messages on the bulb. We filled ours with “bright”, “shine”, and “good idea”. And while we wrote in cursive, if your child can’t yet read cursive then use your own print handwriting, instead.
This is such a great back to school craft. But if you’re looking for more ways to excite your student for school, be sure to also see our Paper Loop School Bus, Monster Bookmarks, Apple Paper Photo Frames, and this Cardboard Roll Pencil Craft.
To make our Light Bulb Encouragement Craft you will need our Light Bulb Template, mini craft sticks, shiny pipe cleaners, acrylic paint in black or grey, cardstock in yellow, light blue, and orange, markers in black, grey, and orange, single hole punch, scissors, and a glue stick.
Light Bulb Encouragement Craft
- Light Bulb Template
- Mini craft sticks
- Cardstock – yellow, light blue, orange, black
- Acrylic paint – black, grey
- Markers – black, grey, orange
- Shiny pipe cleaners
- Single hole punch
- 1.5” circle punch
- Glue stick
Begin by printing and cutting out the template inside the line.
Trace the template on the color cardstock of your bulb. Most are yellow, but we also went with a light blue bulb and orange, too.
Cut out outside the line.
Now paint 3 mini craft sticks black or grey. Let dry.
Fold the bulb in half. Use the hole punch to punch 2 holes.
Next, cut a pipe cleaner in half. Bend the pipe cleaner into a zig zag, making sure both ends are pointed in the right direction.
Then insert the ends of the pipe cleaner into the holes.
Use the black marker to make lines from the holes to the bottom of the bulb.
And write your encouraging message above the pipe cleaner filament.
Now glue the painted craft sticks to the bottom of the bulb.
Finally, punch a circle using a 1.5” circle punch, or scissors, from the black cardstock.
Glue to the bottom of the bulb, so only about half is showing.
Such a bright idea for a bright mind! A fun way to make sure their ideas keep shining!
