Egg Carton Tea Cup Card

We’re big fans of reusing what we have on hand around here. We’ve made a number of fun egg carton crafts before, from flowers to dinosaurs. It’s a fun material to get creative with, as you see from our Egg Carton Mother’s Day Tea Cup Card.
For our Mother’s Day Egg Carton Tea Cup Card, you will first need a paper egg carton. The rest of our supplies consist of watercolor paints, cardstock, scrapbook paper, pipe cleaners, a hot glue gun, and scissors. Then finish with a bag of your favorite tea.
Another fun touch is to replace the tag on the tea bag with your own Happy Mother’s Day tag. Simply cut a piece of cardstock, make your Happy Mother’s Day message, then staple back to the string. You can then write another message on back of the card.
Egg Carton Mother’s Day Tea Cup Card
Supplies needed:
- cardboard egg carton
- watercolor paints
- white cardstock paper
- patterned scrapbook or colored paper
- pipe cleaners, white and any colors
- hot glue gun
- tea bags
- scissors
Cut 2 pieces of cardstock about 4â€x 6†in size and cut 2 pieces of patterned/colored paper about 3â€x 5†in size.
Center each piece of patterned paper on top of each white piece, and glue down on them. These are your 2 cards.
Use the bottom part of the egg carton and cut 2 of the egg holders from the end of the egg carton. Cut off one side of each egg holder, making sure to leave the other 3 sides intact. When you lay it down on the flat cut off side, it will look like a little round cup.
Use the water colors to paint each little egg holder cup any color you choose. Let these dry for a few minutes.
Now cut 2 pieces of the white pipe cleaners each about 3†long. Cut 1 piece each of the colored pipe cleaners about 3†long. Twist a white piece with each colored piece so you now have 2 pieces that looked striped. Make each one into a small handle shape and glue each one to the egg holder cups. I glued one end on the inside top, and the other end to the outside so they look like cup handles.
Glue each teacup with the flat cutout side down onto the cards. Put one of the tea bags into each little cup and let the string dangle over it. And it’s a perfectly sweet Tea Cup Card craft great for Mother’s Day, or you can alter the message and it would be a fun teacher appreciation or birthday card, too!
