Paper Bag Darth Vader Craft
I’m going to date myself here, but I remember watching the original Star Wars movies in the theater with my parents when I was a kid. Hi, I’m old! But I was so thrilled when my oldest son really got into the movies, too, and then my other kids. Of course, there’s nothing like the thrill when Darth Vader comes on screen. And we had a thrill making this Paper Bag Darth Vader Craft, as well.

This Darth Vader craft is perfect to celebrate May the 4th, otherwise known as Star Wars Day. It’s made with simple shapes, so it’s a great learning activity, too. To make sure it’s nothing but fun, though, we have a Free Printable Darth Vader Template with all the pieces you would need.

Darth Vader Paper Bag Puppet Craft
To make our Darth Vader paper bag craft you will first need to print our Darth Vader template.

You will also need brown paper lunch bags, black acrylic paint, cardstock in black, gray, white, red, and yellow, a silver metallic marker, scissors, and a glue stick. You can instead use circle paper punches to make the circle shapes, but the sizes are included on the template. If you use circle punches, you will need 1.5”, 1”, and ¾”.
Paper Bag Darth Vader Craft Supplies Needed
- Darth Vader Template
- Brown paper lunch bags
- Black acrylic paint
- Cardstock – black, gray, white, red, yellow
- Silver metallic marker
- Scissors
- Glue stick
Darth Vader Puppet Craft Step by Step Directions
Begin by painting the front of a brown paper lunch bag in black acrylic paint.

Let the paint dry completely.

While the paint is drying, print and cut out the template pieces. You will need to trace the large circle, 2 of the 1” circles, and triangle shape on black cardstock. The small rectangle, square, and 2 larger 1.5” circles on gray cardstock, small circle on white, and the two circles that are left will need to be red and yellow. Cut out all the pieces.

Now, cut the large black circle and the black triangle both in half.

When the paint is dry, glue one of the circle halves to the top of the bag.

Glue the two triangles along either side of the top of the bag.

Next, glue the rectangle in the middle of the black circle half. Glue large gray circles in place for eyes.

Place the small white circle where the nose would be.

Now, glue the gray square along with the red and yellow circles in the center of the upper body of the bag.

Then, use the silver metallic marker to draw details along the helmet. Also, draw two small circles near the bottom of the flap of the bag. Connect the dots with the small white nose to form a triangle shape.

Draw vertical lines in the triangle shape.

Finally, add the two black circles in the center of the gray eye circles.

There’s no dark side here, this is nothing but a super fun Star Wars craft!
