  • Cardstock – your choice of colors
  • Acrylic paint – your choice of colors
  • Markers – green, your choice of colors
  • 4×6 horizontal framed photographs
  • Scissors

Photo Frame Card Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin with a full sheet of cardstock in your color of choice.

Fold cardstock in half.

Fold the cardstock in half. This is a horizontal card, so it will open from the bottom. You could follow the same method to make vertical cards, too.

Use photogaraph as template for where to make cuts.

Now, line the photograph up in the center of the front of the cardstock. Use a pencil to mark where you will need to make cuts on either side of the photograph. The cuts need to be the height of the photograph, and about ½ an inch shorter on either end.

Carefully cut along both lines.

Then, have an adult carefully insert the pointy tip of scissors along the lines and make the two cuts.

Make sure photo fits in slots.

Make sure the photograph slides into the cuts. If need be, snip a tiny bit extra until the photograph fits. Don’t worry too much if there are jagged edges, but you can always use a nail file to smooth those out if you want.

Make swirly lines with green marker.

With the photograph still in the card, use a green marker to make swirly lines around the edges of the card frame. We also wrote “mom” along the bottom of the card.

Dip a finger in paint.

Next, take the photograph out of the slots and gather your paints for the flowers. We used pink, purple, yellow, and blue. Dip a finger in a paint color.

Use fingerprints to make flower.

Make 5 fingerprints in a small circular pattern to make flowers along the swirly lines.

Make more flowers in more colors.

Continue making more flowers with more colors.

Use another paint color to form center of flower.

When the flowers are finished, dip your finger in another paint color to make the center of the flowers. Let the paint dry completely.

Insert photo back in slots.
