Paper Cone Brown Bear Craft
We have a set of books that my one year old and I sit to read almost every day. I call them our bear books. This Paper Cone Brown Bear Craft was inspired by those cherished books we read together.
This time we spend quietly reading our books is one of my favorite parts of the day. Our much loved set of brown bear books consist of Bear Snores On, Bear Says Thanks, Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?, and We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. All wonderful classics that star a brown bear just like our Paper Cone Brown Bear Craft.
We’ve made a Coffee Filter Panda Craft in the past, but this Paper Cone Brown Bear Craft is really simple and a lot of fun. The list of supplies include 3 shades of brown cardstock; a dark, lighter, and slightly lighter still.
Also needed are small googly eyes, a 1” hole punch, a black sharpie, clear tape, scissors, and school glue. We used whatever clear tape we had on hand, which happened to be shiny. If you have clear matte tape, that would most likely work better. Also, the craft itself is for the brown bear face and snout. We then drew really quick brown bear bodies on white paper with the black sharpie.

Supplies needed:
- Brown cardstock – dark, medium, and slightly lighter shades
- Small googly eyes
- 1” hole punch
- Black sharpie
- Clear tape
- School glue
- scissors
Start by cutting a large circle out of the medium shade of brown cardstock.
Cut a line to the center of the circle.
Form the circle into a cone shape and desired shape of the bear’s face. Place tape to secure the paper. Then, if needed, trim any excess paper from the bottom of the cone.
Cut a smaller circle out of the lighter shade of cardstock. Cut a line to the center of the circle, like with the larger circle, and form a cone shape around the top of the larger cone. Tape to secure and tape/glue in place.
Using the 1” hole punch, punch a circle from the dark sheet of brown cardstock. Snip a line to the center and form into a cone on top of the other two cones. Glue in place.
Also use the 1” hole punch to punch 2 circles from the lighter shade of cardstock. Color a circle inside the circles with the black sharpie.
Fold and glue in place for the ears. Draw on a smile with the black sharpie and also glue on googly eyes. If you want to take your Paper Cone Brown Bear Craft one step further, you can draw a really simple body on paper with a black sharpie like we did. All we did was make large half circles on white sheets and two really quick paws.
And our friendly brown bear comes to life right from the pages! Be sure to check out some of our favorite books if you haven’t already and find more fun animal crafts at Our Kid Things!
