Cats can be the most finickity animals. They’re fussy about a lot of things, from where they go to the toilet to their food, who they like, and which toys they find entertaining. The only thing they don’t seem picky about is where they sleep. Food is one of the things that they can be the most sensitive about. Even food that they liked in the morning can be something that they turn their nose up at by the evening. Some cats are pickier than others, and it can be a struggle to find the right food. So what can you do about a fussy feline?
Provide Fresh Food
Fresh food is a must when you’re feeding your cat. Whether it’s dry or wet food, your cat ideally wants to eat something that’s been kept as fresh as possible. Switch It Up
Some cats can get bored if they have the same food all the time. They might get fed up with the same flavor or texture and start leaving food that they previously loved. Fortunately, most cat food brands offer a range of flavors and even different textures and recipes. So you should have a choice of different foods, whether you’re feeding wet food or dry kibble. Sometimes it can take some experimentation to find the right food for your cat. If you know your cat has a tendency to get bored, keep some trial packs and individual portions on hand to try out.
Place Food in the Right Place
Cats can be fussy about everything related to their food, including where you put it and which bowl you use. When you feed your cat, make sure you put their food bowl far enough from their litter box. They also prefer to have their food and water bowls in separate places, as they don’t like to smell their food while drinking water. You should also choose a quiet and calm place for your cat to eat. If you have multiple cats, give them separate bowls.

Offer Food Frequently
If you’re struggling to get your cat to eat, especially if it’s a new cat in a new environment, offering your food at regular intervals can help. Start by offering them food in the morning and leaving it for 15-30 minutes, then take it away if it hasn’t been eaten. Offer food again at the next mealtime, making sure it’s fresh. To avoid wasting food, offer only a little at a time. Do this four to five times per day at first, and try decreasing the frequency as your cat starts to eat more.
Feed your fussy cat by creating the right conditions and finding the best food to meet their demands. Some experimentation might be required, but you should be able to find the right combination.
