Cardboard Roll Handprint Turkey Craft

Handprints and turkey crafts go together like peanut butter and jelly. They just make sense. We’re putting the two together in our fun and sweet Cardboard Roll Handprint Turkey Craft. It’s a super cute Thanksgiving craft that also works as a lovely holiday keepsake, and you’re reusing a regular household item, too.

So instead of throwing away your toilet paper rolls, be sure to save them. Did you know you can also buy just the cardboard rolls for crafts? No toilet paper needed. I save ours, though, and you should see my stash. It’s kind of impressive.

Handprint Turkey Cardboard Roll Craft

For our handprint turkey craft you’ll need toilet paper size cardboard rolls, cardstock in brown, yellow, red, and other Thanksgiving colors of your choice, small googly eyes, a 2” circle paper punch, brown acrylic paint, scissors, and a glue stick.

Turkey Handprint Craft Supplies Needed

Handprint Turkey Craft Step by Step Directions

Start making your turkey by painting the cardboard roll brown. We started with a white cardboard roll, but even the brown rolls you will want a deeper brown.

Paint cardboard roll brown.

Let the paint dry completely.

Trace handprints.

While the paint is drying, trace handprints on the cardstock colors of choice. You will need 3 handprints in 3 different colors for each turkey.

Cut out handprints.

Cut out the handprints.

Glue handprints together.

Glue three handprints together.

Glue eyes, beak, and wattle to circle.

Also, punch a circle from brown cardstock with a 2” circle paper punch punch. Cut a small yellow triangle beak and red oval wattle, too. Glue all of this together on the circle with small googly eyes.

Glue circle face to top front of cardboard roll.

Glue the circle to the front top of the cardboard roll.

Handprint Turkey Craft

Lastly, glue the handprints to the back top of  the cardboard roll to complete your sweet handprint Thanksgiving keepsake craft. They’re a fun fall table decoration, too.

Use handprints as feathers in our handprint turkey craft made with a cardboard roll

Materials

  • Cardboard rolls
  • Brown acrylic paint
  • Cardstock - brown, yellow, red, other colors of choice
  • Googly eyes, small
  • 2” circle paper punch
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
