Handprint Poinsettia Craft
Growing up, my mom would get a new poinsettia every year at Christmas, like tradition. The great thing about this Handprint Poinsettia Craft is that you’re not going to need to get a new one next year. Unless you want to. But it’s a beautiful holiday keepsake craft to cherish for years to come.

My mom didn’t have the greenest thumb growing up. In fact, I don’t remember her ever having a real plant inside the house. Except for a poinsettia. In fact, I just recently learned that poinsettias can be kept all year round, for years even. I really thought they were an annual kind of thing.

Our poinsettia craft can be kept and cherished for years, too. Such a simple, lovely Christmas craft, it uses not much more than handprints to make the beautiful festive foliage of the plant. No green thumb is required, but green handprints to finish off this fun Christmas craft are.

Poinsettia Craft Step by Step Directions
Begin by gathering red, green and yellow colored paper or cardstock for this craft. We lilke using cardstock for most crafts as it just holds up better, but regular construction paper will work here, too.

Trace and cut 6 handprints from red cardstock.

Take any two of the handprints and apply glue on a side of any one of them, on its thumb or pinky.

Place the other handprint cutout on the glued part of the first one.

One by one, attach all 6 of the handprints to form a circle. The fingers should be facing outwards and the palms should be towards the center of the round shape.

Now, cut out a small circle from yellow cardstock or paper and attach it to the center of the handprint flower pattern.

Cut a strip from the yellow paper, too.

Crumple the yellow strip into a small ball.

Glue the crumpled yellow ball in the center of the yellow circle attached to the center of the handprint flower pattern.

Next, trace and cut out two green handprints for the leaves of our poinsettia.

Glue the green handprint cutouts side by side.

Finally, glue the handprint leaves to the back of the handprint flower shape to complete this lovely holiday poinsettia craft.
