When it comes to super cute handmade Christmas ornaments, I’m pretty sure this Handprint Gnome Christmas Ornament Craft takes the cake. They’re so easy to make, too, you can make a whole bunch to fill your tree.

Handprint Gnome Christmas Ornament Craft

Give your Christmas tree a hand this year with the cutest Christmas gnomes. We made ours in typical Christmas colors of green and red, but you can try blue and red or white and red for more of a Santa gnome look. All would be super cute!

We also had to top off our gnome hats with a cotton ball, for the complete Christmas hat look. All together, it’s the sweetest addition to any Christmas tree!

Handprint Christmas Gnome Ornament Craft

For our Christmas gnome craft, you will need cardstock in Christmas colors of choice plus a small bit of tan, a white paint pen, ⅝” circle paper punch, scissors, and a glue stick.

You’ll also need twine or yarn to hang your Christmas handprint gnomes. We used tape to adhere it in place.

Christmas Gnome Craft Supplies Needed

  • Cardstock – tan, Christmas colors of choice
  • ⅝” circle paper punch
  • White paint pen
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Yarn or twine
  • Tape

Gnome Ornament Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by tracing a handprint on the Christmas color of your choice.

Trace handprint.

We chose red and green cardstock for our Christmas gnomes.

Cut out handprint.

Cut out the handprint.

Cut triangle for hat.

Now, cut a simple triangle hat to fit the width of the handprint from the other color of cardstock.

Punch a circle from tan cardstock.

You’ll also need to punch a ⅝” circle from tan cardstock.

Glue nose in center of handprint.

Glue the circle in the center of the handprint.

Glue hat over nose.

Then, glue the triangle over the nose. Trim the edges of the hat to fit the handprint if needed.

Design hat with white paint pen.

Next, use a white paint pen to draw a festive design on the gnome hat.

Glue cotton ball to top of hat.

Top off the hat with a cotton ball.

Tape yarn or twine to back of handprint gnome.

Lastly, cut a strand of yarn or twine. We used red yarn. Tape the yarn in a loop to the back top of the Christmas gnome to hang your super cute Christmas handprint gnome ornament from the tree.
