Paper Plate School Bus Craft
It’s getting closer to time for kids to hop back on that school bus, and to get the little ones excited for that day is our super cute Paper Plate School Bus Craft. It’s amazing just how easy this back to school bus craft is!

Of course, to help with some of the sizes for the bus pieces we’ve included a Free Printable School Bus Template. Along with the windshield, it will also help with the size circles needed for the wheels and lights. Or, you can do what we did and use the appropriate size paper punches.

School Bus Paper Plate Craft
To make our school bus craft you will first need to print our school bus template.

You’ll also need paper plates, gold acrylic paint, a black sharpie, cardstock in red, black, white, and silver, scissors, and a glue stick. You can also use circle paper punches in 2”, 1”, and ¾” instead of cutting the circles from the template.
School Bus Craft Supplies Needed
- School Bus Template
- Paper plates
- Cardstock – white, red, black, silver
- Gold acrylic paint
- Black sharpie
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Paper punches (optional) – 2”, 1”, ¾”
Paper Plate School Bus Craft Step by Step Directions
Begin by painting a paper plate a golden yellow color.

We didn’t have a deep enough yellow, so we mixed a very small amount of orange with our bright yellow paint. Let the paint dry completely.

While the paint is drying, print the template and cut out the pieces. Leave the white rectangle as is. You can either trace and cut the circles from the template or use paper punches. The large circles will need to be from black cardstock, the middle size circles are silver, and the small circles are red.

Use a black sharpie to trace around the edges of the white rectangle.

Now, when the paint is completely dry, cut the bottom from the paper plate so you have a flat edge. Then cut the sides, as well.

Glue the white rectangle windshield to the center of the plate.

Add the small red circles above the windshield.

And glue the silver circles below the windshield. Glue the black wheels in place at the bottom, too.

Finally, use the black marker to add lines below the windshield for the grill. Also write SCHOOL between the red circles.

Is your little one getting excited for the start of school?
