Patriotic Paper Streamer Craft

We can’t get enough of this easy Patriotic Paper Streamer Craft. Made with a simple loop of cardstock and a few strands of crepe paper, it’s a perfect Memorial Day or 4th of July craft, and so lovely to watch blowing in the breeze.

Of course, given that they are made of cardstock, I wouldn’t leave them outside. But they are a great decoration. These patriotic streamers are also a fun way for kids to help celebrate America and all the amazing Veterans who fought and are still fighting for us.

Memorial Day Streamers Craft

To make our patriotic streamers you will need cardstock in patriotic colors, crepe paper streamers in the same, a white paint pen, a stapler, scissors, and a glue stick.

Craft supplies needed.

Then to hang your streamers you will need a hole punch and baker’s twine.

  • Cardstock – red, blue
  • Crepe paper streamers – red, blue
  • White paint pen
  • Stapler
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Hole punch
  • Baker’s twine or ribbon

July 4th Streamer Craft Step by Step Directions

Start by choosing a red or blue color of patriotic cardstock.

Cut cardstock in half.

Cut the cardstock in half.

Use white paint pen to draw design.

Now, use the white paint pen to draw a design on the cardstock. Stars are an obvious good choice.

Glue streamers to bottom of reverse side.
Streamers glued.

Next, flip the cardstock over so that the plain side is facing up. Cut your streamers. We found 5 streamers were just enough to fit across the cardstock. Glue the streamers in place at the bottom of the cardstock.

Bring cardstock together in a loop.

Once all the streamers are glued, bring the cardstock together in a loop.

Staple cardstock.

Staple to secure in place. Be careful not to staple the streamers, too.

Punch two holes at top of streamer.

Finally, to hang your streamers, punch two holes at the top of the cardstock, on opposite sides.

Cut a long strand of baker’s twine. Tie a loop at the top. Then, tie each of the ends through the holes of the streamer. Try to get it as even as possible.
