Who doesn’t love getting to play with paint, right? And this fingerprint star craft for Memorial Day or the 4th of July, any patriotic occasion, is super fun. No denying that. Not only that, though, but more importantly it’s a great way for kids to celebrate the red white and blue, and all of those who served for us.

Fingerprint Star Memorial Day Craft

To make your own fingerprint star craft you will first need to print our star template.

You’ll also need white cardstock, acrylic paint in red, white, and blue, as well as scissors for cutting out the template.

Patriotic Star Fingerprint Craft Supplies Needed

  • Star Template
  • White cardstock
  • Acrylic paint – red, white, blue
  • Scissors

Memorial Day Star Fingerprint Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by printing the star template on the color cardstock of your choice. Cardstock works best, so the star is sturdier and holds shape better. Cut out the star.

Cut out star and gather paints.

Now, gather white cardstock and red, white, and blue acrylic paints. Again, cardstock works best as it holds up to paint better. Pour the paint on a palette or paper plate.

Position star in center of white cardstock.

Position the star in the center of the cardstock. You could use glue dots or loops of masking tape to secure in place if needed.

Dip a finger in paint.

Dip a finger in either the red or blue paint.

Make fingerprints randomly over the page.
Red fingerprints.

Then begin making fingerprints with the colors randomly along the page.

Continue making fingerprints with the other patriotic color.

Continue with the other color, making sure to cover the edges of the star with fingerprints.

Finish with a few fingerprints of white on top of the red and blue.

Add a few white fingerprints at the end, too, where there’s a concentration of red and blue.

Peel off the star template.

Finally, carefully peel off the star. Let the paint dry completely.
